Anti-Affirmative Action Measure Tested in Detroit
DETROIT A federal judge in Detroit will hear arguments in September over a lawsuit that challenges the constitutionality of an anti-affirmative action measure approved by Michigan voters.
U-S District Judge David Lawson said today he will hear arguments then on whether the suit should be dismissed.Groups supporting affirmative action are fighting the new law, which bans the use of race and gender preferences in public university admissions and government hiring and contracting.
